Spirit Thing, Episode 24Phirun slid behind a no-longer-burning house, and peered at the assembled… People-With-Spirits cautiously. There were those water-people who saved his village, the fire people who tried to destroy it, Thabit (imprisoned), Kamenwati (probably about to kill Thabit), two more people Phirun had never seen before, but who appeared to have some sort of plant-thing, and Nakato’s sister.   
The rest of the villagers were hiding. Phirun didn’t blame them.   
But wait! Nakato! Where was she? Her ostrich had probably gone right through the village, and if she came back soon her sister would wipe her off the face of the Spirit Thing, Episode 24

Spirit Thing, Episode 23The grass itself rose from the ground and tried to grab the ostriches’ legs. They screeched and bolted, forcing Nakato, Phirun, and Thabit to hold on for dear life. They thundered into the village square and split up as they passed a massive tree that, to Phirun’s memory, hadn’t been there less than two weeks previously. Phirun flung himself off the bird, and landed hard on the dirt. Thabit jumped off easily and was ready to chop away the branch that swung toward them.   
Phirun stared in horror as the tree moved its many limbs back, preparing to attack them. He scrambled to his feet and fled to where Ham and Hrag lay Spirit Thing, Episode 23

Spirit Thing Episode 22Apiyo concentrated on urging the dog-horse to go faster. They were nearly caught up with her thrice dratted sister! Good riddance, too. These girls were perhaps even more irritating than Nakato. The entire time, one had insisted on riding with Kamenwati while the other glared jealously.   
It was driving her insane. If she had to stop one more time for a tree appearing in the middle of the field or grass grabbing some dog-horse’s foot, she would personally see too it that someone other than Nakato was murdered.   
As they crested a low rise, the four of them saw a village.

Spirit Thing, Episode 21“Ah, warmth!” exclaimed Neros, lying on the warm sand.   
Ganymede jumped out of the icy boat, which promptly melted into the tide. “Warmth?” he repeated to himself, shaking his head. It was clear he felt it was far too hot. Sweat plastered his bronze hair to his remarkably pale skin.   
Neros, despite being physically identical to his brother, didn’t seem to understand. “We’ve been in a boat made of ice the past week, brother. You can’t possibly expect me to believe that you don’t find being able to sit on something that doesn’t stick to your bare skin doesn’t make yo Spirit Thing, Episode 21
